Workers of the Niger Delta University, Amassama in Bayelsa
south south Nigeria , which comprises of the Academic Staff Union of
Universities , Non Academic staff union of Educational and Associated
institution ; Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the
National Association of Technologist, stated this in a communiqué issued on
Monday 4th of April 2016 .
The Communique was jointly signed by the ASUU Chairman, Dr.
Stanley Ogoun; SSANU chairman, wilox Fakidouma , NAAT Chairman Ekipre Dienagha
, and NASU chairman Kenneth Akpofagha stated that the inability of the state
government to pay their salaries has made life unbearable for them.
The groups said, “it is inhuman to expect our members to
exercise further patience when three months into the New Year, salaries have
not been paid. The development has resulted in families of our members going hungry,
our children being driven out of school, and the sick not cared for.
They called on the state governor to condescend to the state
of the ordinary worker whose take home pay cannot even take him home.
