FG BOOST E- LEARNING IN UNIBEN
Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, Wednesday said the Federal Government through the Petroleum Training Development Fund (PTDF) has boost e-learning teaching program in the institution by installing the necessary facilities.
Prof. Orumwense said the e-learning platforms have now been installed in the faculties of Engineering, Education, Pharmacy, Life Sciences and ICT Training Centre.
Orumwense who spoke to newsmen on his two years stewardship as VC said fibre optic have been used to link hostels to faculties for enhanced internet connectivity and service delivery.
The VC stated that the ICT Network Operation Centre (NOC) room of the university has been upgraded to a “world class standard that can accommodate the 155mbps”, adding; “ICT development remains a cardinal goal of the strategic vision of this administration”.
He said the university has taken a bold step to entrench a culture of academic excellence in the system through workshops and lectures series.
Prof. Orumwense said the Annual Research Day was instituted by his administration in recognition of the critical role of research and development and the overall development of the nation.
He said ten capital projects have been inaugurated while others are on the final stages of completion.
