Kaduna Polytechnic on Friday matriculated 8,228 successful new students out of the over 50,000 applicants who sought for admission into the institution.
Addressing the matriculating students, the Acting Rector of the institution Dr. Catherine Eveh Uloko reminded the students to consider themselves as being fortunate to be admitted into the institution among the over 50,000 students that applied.
“As a new students of Kaduna Polytechnic, it is important that you should put academic and moral standards, aim to graduate with good grade, remain focused from today on your vision if you want to make meaningful progress in this institution.
“It is your level of commitment to your academic work that will determine the level of your performance in all your examinations. I therefore urge you not to allow any extraneous or peer-group influence to distract your attention from your academic work, such influences can be counter-productive”.
Represented by the director college of administrative studies and social sciences, Dr Rosemary Kato, the acting Rector assured the students of the management commitment to applying available limited funds towards the orderly growth and development of the campus, provision of services and the maintenance of an aesthetically appealing and soothing environment.
“On your part, you are expected to make judicious use of these facilities as anybody found destroying or stealing them will be dismissed from the institution”she warned.
On the conducts of the students, the rector said, “as adults, you must weigh the consequences of your individual and collective actions. Whatever you do individually or collectively will affect your future, you should therefore never forget your individuality within the collective and do not let your individuality be swallowed up by the collective.
“I therefore urge you to resist any overtures to join groups that operate clandestinely and canvass or promote violent and deviate behaviour.
“The management of the institutions has taken its time to bring into place certain rules and regulations that will guide the peaceful coexistence of all members of the Polytechnic Community”
