ATBU MARTRICULATES 3,888
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, on Friday, matriculated 3,888 students for the 2016/2017 academic session.
Prof. Saminu Ibrahim, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, said that the Faculty of Sciences had 950 students, the largest number, compared to other faculties.
Others were Faculty of Technology Education, 723; Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology, 719 and Faculty of Environmental Technology, 639.
The Faculty of Management Sciences had 454; College of Medical Sciences, 41 and Faculty of Agriculture, 272 students.
Ibrahim also announced the commencement of courses at the university’s College of Medical Sciences.
He also said that the National University Commission (NUC) had re-accredited nine courses in the Faculty of Technology Education and Environmental Technology earlier denied the institution.
Ibrahim warned the new students against cultism, improper dressing, illicit drugs, corruption and other vices, saying: “the school has zero tolerance for such misconducts”.
He said that the institution had introduced the use of smart boards in most of the lecture halls and tablets for students.
“The council has approved the provision of triumph tablets for students to be sold at subsidized rate although, it is optional.
“It is part of the global dispensation in which the economic development has to meet the ever-challenging consumer sovereign and knowledge-based society,” the vice chancellor said.
He urged them to concentrate on their studies and ensure that they excel at the end of their studies.
