ASUU REJECTS TSA

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, on Wednesday 30th of March 2016. asked the Federal Government to exempt the Ivory towers from the TSA scheme . The policy , they say had not only frustrated the functioning of the institutions but also eroded their autonomy.

The Lagos zonal Coordinator of ASSU, Dr. Adesola Nasir who stated this at a briefing at the Lagos State University Ojo South West Nigeria. He advised the Federal Government to exempt the Universities from the initiative .

According to ASSU, the policy is crippling the operations of the Universities ,especially in the public Universities where they are finding it difficult to pay salaries and meet other needs .

The exercise , he added was crippling research as well as trapping funds from donor agencies.
